Supporting Ukrainian Evacuees Across Rural Alberta

Register for a FREE Train-the-Trainer Workshop Series 

The Rural Development Network is excited to announce a five-part workshop series taking place from October to December 2024. These workshops are designed for individuals or groups who are currently providing settlement support for Ukrainian evacuees in rural communities. This includes settlement workers, municipal staff, local FCSS, schools, families hosting refugees, and community groups.

The goal of these workshops is to enhance participants’ capacity to support the integration and settlement of Ukrainian evacuees. By attending these sessions, attendees will gain valuable knowledge and skills that will enable them to better assist Ukrainian evacuees in their transition to their new communities. We encourage all those involved in settlement support work for Ukrainian evacuees to take advantage of this opportunity to further develop their abilities and make a positive impact on the lives of those they are assisting. Each session is 2.5 hours.

Each session is 2.5 hours. The schedule is:

• #1: October 9, 2024, 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM MT: Backgrounder: situation in Ukraine and characteristics, specific needs, and common experiences of Ukrainian evacuees- COMPLETED
  
• #2: October 23, 2024, 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM MT: Approaches to appropriate service provision: cultural competency and trauma-informed care COMPLETED
  
• #3: November 6, 2024, 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM MT: Supporting Ukrainian evacuee children and families in a place of learning COMPLETED
  
• #4: November 20, 2024, 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM MT:  Immigration Pathways of Ukrainian Evacuees and Public Legal Education 
  
• #5: December 4, 2024, 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM MT: Resources to Help Address the Housing Needs & Employment Integration of Ukrainian Evacuees in Rural Communities

In order to receive a certificate of completion, participants are required to attend the first two sessions, in addition to at least one of the last three sessions.
